The Old Trouts are able to offer a variety of workshops to professionals and public alike. As a group, we hold several master’s degrees and have university level teaching experience. We all have extensive histories in pedagogical, interpretive, and educational milieux, and many years between us of innovative professional practice.
We’re happy to custom design a curriculum, but these are the workshops we typically offer:
FULL CHARACTER MASK
Participants learn techniques of physical performance with full character masks.
SUZUKI MOVEMENT TRAINING
An introduction to the movement-based/ensemble-building methodology of Tadashi Suzuki.
PUPPET CONSTRUCTION AND PERFORMANCE
Anything from wood-carving to rubber latex building methods, from hand puppets to the trademark Trout head puppet; performance, manipulation, design.
PUPPETRY CREATION INTENSIVE
Innovation, experimentation, and creation in the medium of puppetry – an exploration of the potentials of object-based theatre with unpredictable results.
